I want to start this article with a saying, “practice makes perfect”. This is a very important saying and I can’t emphasize it enough and I want you to keep it in mind while reading through this article.

You will find reading through this article, that there is no magic potion, trick or quick fix that will enable you to learn to play the guitar within a weekend or two. “Practice makes perfect” is an old saying which will help you to get over the frustrating process of learning to play the guitar. Just like you, I was here. I’m no Jimmy Hendricks, Eric Clapton or Mark Knopfler and I’m the kind of person that easily gets frustrated when I don’t get something right the first time round but as I sit here in front of the computer writing this article, I know that I can now play the guitar and I’m proud of myself, because my passion got the better of me.

Frustration easily sets in when you take up guitar lessons for beginners and many things contribute to this fact. In the beginning you will find that you fingers are really dumb and believe me when I say that it happened to every guitarist. They will feel like you have dead weights on the tips of your fingers and it will feel that you will never press the right chord correctly. With more and more practice you will be able to play more efficiently as your will fingers will start to get much stronger and “smarter”.

Another frustrating factor is amnesia. You will also forget the new chord you have learned as you struggle to teach you fingers to press another chord perfectly.

The fact of perfection also leads to more frustration when you are a beginning guitarist. Playing a whole song without messing it up is one of the normal things a beginner guitarist wants to do, but unfortunately it is not always possible. It is normal for any person to start the song all over again. Please keep playing. As you keep on playing, your fingers will start to become strong and within a few weeks you will find that you can play the song perfectly.

The rhythm and strumming is another factor that might lead to further frustration. Don’t let that keep you from learning to play the guitar. The strumming and rhythm part will fall automatically in place as you get the chords right and practice more.

Every guitarist will tell you that these problems are normal. These problems are the reasons why so many start to learn to play the guitar and then give up after a while. They lack the passion, will power and patience to make it. You will be able to entertain your friends and family in no time with your newfound skills if you keep at it.

Practice makes perfect” is the reason why I started this article, as you now know that guitar lessons for beginners can be very frustrating. This golden rule will help you to become a great guitarist in the shortest time possible.
